Archie Bray Foundation Residency for the Ceramic Arts

The Archie Bray Foundation was the first artist residency program in the United States devoted solely to ceramics. For sixty years the Bray has brought together artists with diverse backgrounds and approaches to the medium, creating an environment conducive to artistic exchange and individual expression.


Long-term residents are granted a one-year residency with the option to stay for a second year. Long-term residencies begin in the fall of the year and each long-term resident receives a one-year fellowship.

Summer Short-term: 2–4 months between June and October

Short-term: 1–3 months between October and June

Fellowships for year-long residents and scholarships for short-term summer residents are awarded annually.


Applications for residencies are accepted between October and March and are reviewed once a year. To be considered, applications for short-term or year-long residencies must be received at the Bray no later than March 1, 2015.
