The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico

The Foundation accepts applications from and offers residency grants to painters, poets, sculptors, writers, playwrights, composers, photographers and filmmakers, of national and international origin.


The campus of the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation consists of eleven artist residency casitas on eighteen acres in the heart of Taos, NM.

Three casitas are designated for visual artists, three for composers, and five for literary artists. They are single-occupancy, furnished homes with all your basic amenities.


The Foundation offers three sessions a year:

  • Session 1 (mid January – early April)
  • Session 2 (mid May – mid August)
  • Session 3 (early September – Late November)

The annual deadline for applications is January 18th for residencies the following calendar year. Grantees will be notified of their fellowship awards by June 1st.
