Stuart Artist-in-Residence at South Dakota State University

Applications are now being accepted from artists working in any discipline who are interested in communicating their conceptualization process, through visual documentation.


The resident artist is expected to maintain a full-time working schedule that includes 4-6 hours of open studio time per week to share the development of his/her project with students, faculty and the greater university community. The artist will also be required to give a public visual presentation of his/her artwork inside the South Dakota Museum of Art Auditorium, and present visual progress of residency project through exhibition at the end of the residency term. The artist will be provided 24/7 access to a 660 sq. ft. lockable studio space. Basic studio furniture will be provided. The Visual Arts Department may be able to provide access to specific equipment and facilities. Artists should communicate specific needs within their project proposal. The artist will reside within a four-bedroom, university owned guesthouse that includes a private lockable bedroom along with full access to kitchen, living, laundry and parking facilities.
