American Society of Botanical Artists, Artist and Education Grant

All applicants must be ASBA members for two full years by the August 1 deadline.


The ASBA may offer up to two grants within a year: $3,000 Julius I.Brown Grant, $3,000 Anne Ophelia Dowden Grant.

The ASBA Artist and Education Grant recommends including the following goals in addition to the purposes of the ASBA. The observation and scientifically accurate portrayal of plants. A focus on specific techniques for portraying plants, botanical art history or appreciation. Educational materials developed in conjunction with the activity to be accessible to the public for the benefit and promotion of botanical art. The personal development of an artist through education and/or improved skills that include aspects to be shared with others. Artistic proficiency must be appropriate to the program. If you, as the grant recipient, will be exhibiting or publishing your work as part of your project, quality of your artwork will be considered.
