Joan Mitchell Foundation Emergency Program

January 25, 2018

WHO:

The Joan Mitchell Foundation provides emergency support to US based visual artists working in the mediums of painting, sculpture, and/or drawing, who have suffered significant losses after natural or man-made disasters that have affected their community.

WHAT:

Artists who have been negatively impacted due to catastrophic situations of this nature can apply to the Foundation for funding. The Foundation has historically granted funding to assist in the repair of homes and studios following flooding and material destruction, to replace art materials such as brushes, paints, inks, other materials such as hand or power tools and computers, and to assist in rent for a temporary studio space in which to work while cleaning up after a disaster. Unfortunately, the Joan Mitchell Foundation cannot grant funds towards the retail value of any lost or damaged artwork.
